HARTING Introduces Han Ex Connectors for Explosion-Proof Environments
March 11 2015
HARTING introduces Han Ex connectors for explosion-proof environments that are available in five size 3A sets, each comprised of a hood, housing and high pin count insert.
Han Ex is for use in intrinsically safe circuits of categories “ia”, “ib” and “ic” of explosion protection method “Ex i”, and is suitable for Zones 0, 1 and 2 for gas and Zones 20, 21 and 22 for dust. The “Ex i” protection method assures intrinsically safe electrical circuitry that is limited for maximum voltage, current, capacity and inductance. The Han Ex housing’s blue colour indicates that an intrinsically safe circuit is present.
Han Ex sets are available with 4, 7, 8 or 12 contacts. There are three variants with crimp termination and two with Han-Quick Lock termination technology. Other variants are available on request.
The Han Ex portfolio is suitable for a wide range of applications where the substance being processed or transported is potentially explosive or combustible. These include gases, liquid and solids in the chemical and mining industries, grains and sugars in the food sector, alcohol and dust in pharmaceuticals, fermentation gases in waste management, thermal fuels in power generation – even biogas plants on farms.
